Yesterday, 1st Grade mixed Reading, Math and Science with our very own Punky Pumpkin (class selected name and face)!
We read the story, learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin, the vocabulary word decay/decompose, then we made predictions and counted seeds.
This project will be year long as we watch Punky go through the stages of the life cycle 🎃
It's Game Day!
We had some team building with elementary and secondary students yesterday! In groups, they had to stack cups without using their hands. They had to make a device out of rubber bands and string to help lift the cups.
They had to try it first by talking it out together, then without any verbal communication, and finally with one group leader communicating what to do while everyone else had their eyes closed.
True leaders came out when they volunteered to be the speaker for the group while others had eyes closed.
We discussed how to work as a team and how much easier it was to complete a task with open communication from all parties.

Chieftain Sound competed this morning at the LISD Marching Festival. They did a great job and are improving on every performance. They will be competing next Saturday at UIL Regionals in Lubbock. Great job and good luck next week! Go Chiefs and Chiefettes!!
