Beginning July 2025, the Immunization Section initiated the process of updating the Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Title 25, Chapter 97, §97.62 and §97.64, which includes immunization exemption affidavit forms. DSHS now posts a blank affidavit form on the www.immunizetexas.org website for a person to download and submit to their child-care facility, school, or institution of higher education, including students enrolled in health-related or veterinary courses. The proposed changes to §97.64 clarify exclusions from compliance for medical and veterinary students, aligning with current practice outlined in statute.

Individuals will still need to notarize the form before submitting it to their child-care facility, school, or institution of higher education, including health-related or veterinary courses. The notarized forms remain valid for two years.

The rule change is effective for the 2025–2026 school year.

If you have any questions, please email SchoolImm@dshs.texas.gov.

We had lots of kids to celebrate for PAX today! Congratulations to our following PAX leaders.

Selena comes to small group every day ready and willing to put in the work. She approaches each lesson with a positive attitude and a smile on her face, no matter how challenging it may be. Selena never backs down from a challenge, in fact, she embraces them head-on with determination and enthusiasm. Her commitment, resilience, and eagerness to learn have truly set her apart. Selena has shown time and time again that she is more than ready to take on third grade and all the exciting opportunities it brings. Keep up the amazing work, Selena!!!

Koltyn loves to give and receive hugs. He makes me smile every day. He works hard in class and likes to make sure he is on task. He has great ideas and loves to think about how to try new things when experimenting with science concepts. He is happy when I see him in the morning and he is happy when he goes home in the afternoon. He makes our class better by being in it.

Sophia is a tremendous PAX student in the hall and around the school. She works hard in class and has fabulous handwriting. She takes pride in her hard work and she pays attention to details. Her work shows that she takes learning seriously. She has a gorgeous smile but you might have to coax it out of her. She makes our class better by being in it.

Maggie has been an amazing PAX leader! She is smiling every day and ready to learn. She leads by example and is always exceeding expectations! Maggie, thank you for rocking PAX!

Elijah is a true representation of a Brave Spirit! He shows up every day ready to learn and does not back down from any challenge. His PAX leadership skills ring throughout the classroom. He is not afraid to fail and keep trying….what a growth mindset. I’m super proud of Elijah and can’t wait what else he will tackle!

Easton is working hard on PAX! He's doing a good job at taking care of himself and making good choices. Keep it up!

Emma is doing a much better job with 1st grade PAX adjustments! She's staying focused on being her best self and doing her work. So proud!

Kamdyn is a true example of a spotlight student! She is consistently ready to learn, always participating in class and a great PAX leader! Thanks Kamdyn!

✨ Science in Action! ✨ Our 4th and 5th graders in Mrs. Killian-Cox's class had a blast in the lab this week as they explored changes of states of matter. Using everyday items like vinegar and baking soda, students got hands-on with real chemical reactions—watching solids and liquids combine to create a gas! 🧊 💦 💨#growingourgreatness
